Written: 19th July 2002 Robert Young is dressed just in some knee length denim pants and basketball boots as he plays some hoops at Oblivion headquarters. As he launches a jump shot over a nameless Oblivion supporter he smiles. He then walks away and grabs a towel off the nearby bench and wipes himself down a little. Young: Before I even start on my match at Fusion I would like to address the accusation that I am an EEI whipping boy. Now Pariah, I know you must be feeling good about slapping a female around. I mean it is part of American culture for the male to beat the woman. But maybe you let your little victory get to you. I hate to inform you, but the only people that have shown any effective resistance to Oblivion, since my entry, are non EEI members. In fact the EEI as a stable are personally my bitches. In my last three EEI singles outings I have defeated Dirge, Brimstone and Glamour. They became my whipping boys. Now Pariah I am yet to add you to that list. But I am willing to make you the next personal bitch for Robert Young. Why? Because the EEI exist to have their asses whipped by me. Young wipes the continuing sweat from his brow. Young: But onto someone who is not an EEI member, thus someone who we may consider above being my personal whipping boy. Subdued. Young: Unfortunately, unlike Slate, Harbinger and Jin Akujin; Subdued is not up to the Oblivion minimum standard. He is not someone who will provide me with the competition that Oblivion and I crave. See Subdued you are nothing but a mere rookie, maybe a talented rookie, but a rookie all the same. And I know you have just beaten Inferno Kid. But the only man unable to do that was Blaze McCoy. A victory over Inferno is meaningless. Young: I’ve beaten Inferno so many times I really don’t care to remember. Now, Subdued congrats on the win, a win is a win, but it isn’t going to be a factor at Fusion. At Fusion you are not fighting Inferno, your not fighting a mere brute brawler without a significant win in his career, you are fighting a legend, a man who has beaten some of Wrestling’s biggest names in the last few months alone. You see Harbinger talking about his losses to Mercury Stars? Well he lost to me. Harbinger, the man who went with Duel for 50 minutes, I defeated with ease. Dirge, the longest reigning North American titleholder lost to me, Brimstone the feared enforcer of the EEI lost to me. I am not you, and I am not Inferno. Like Jin Akujin, the man who just defeated me, I am a successful graduate of LTD. Young: This success is the difference that will be vital in the result of our match. I am a success, and that will be proven once again with my victory over you. Subdued, hopefully you won’t be the next Inferno. Hopefully you will follow in the footsteps of myself and Jin, and become a credible Mercury wrestler who will compete with the best and win. Young chooses to sit on the bench. Young: Sub, if I can call you that, it is simple. You may be talented, you might have a bright future, but like Jin and I, it will take you a few months to settle in, to be able to beat the established stars of this fed. Sure Inferno, the EEI, may be on you list of defeats some time soon, but it will take some time to defeat the real stars. Subdued that doesn’t mean I underestimate you. With your talent I can’t afford a mistake, but if I take you seriously, if I compete to my best, you will be taken care of. See I am a thorough professional, a success. I am a success for a reason. That reason being that I take care of business, I get the job done and I love my job. Young: My job is to kick your ass for Oblivion, pretty simple hey? But after the Pay Per View that has become important because I admit we were embarrassed at the pay per view. I’ll admit we had an unsuccessful event. Our pride has been hurt, our guts have been flipped, and more importantly our mission and purpose has been tarnished and set back. Oblivion doesn’t lie, but in the end despite this the mission will succeed. But this Fusion we need to rebound, we have been embarrassed and need to get a little revenge. Young: Unfortunately for you, you’re the opponent that will be the victim to this. But this isn’t just Oblivion’s need it is my own need. I lost a title I cherished, I lost in a match I should of won. I made a mistake. I turned my back on my opponent. Then I had the crap kicked out of me. The bruises and wounds on my face are a testament to the abuse I suffered. It hasn’t made me a happy man. After convincingly taking care of the opposition for some weeks, it was all made null and void with my loss to Jin. Something I worked hard for was lost. Young looks slightly annoyed. Young: In a meaningless match with a meaningless opponent I actually have a reason to fight. That may seem a weird and complicated way of saying things. But the truth is that fighting Subdued means nothing to me, this is just another Fusion. But the humiliation I suffered, and the setbacks Oblivion faced at Resurrection has given this match meaning. Quite frankly I am going out to prove Oblivion is still on the right path, a path that will fulfill its purposes. I am also there as a man who has just lost due to his own stupid mistake. It doesn’t make me happy and thus I want to beat the crap out of someone. Young: I am pretty darn intent on destroying someone in a wrestling ring. The reasons behind this only add to my superiority over Subdued. It only adds a new level of brutality to my already brutal style. Subdued is going to be a very hurt man after Fusion. The end.
