Jin Akujin
Fate

Written: 2/25/07
Reclusion. That is what Jinsei Akujin's life became after David Beaumont delivered his decision to temporarily 'release' Jin and Kiyoshi from their contracts. Though, it came as no surprise to neither of them. Their attitudes, violent actions, and overall cruelty left Beaumont with little choice.

At first, Jin was extremely upset about what he deemed an injustice and last ditch effort by Dave to stop his group from obtaining complete control. His anger was also directed at the fact he wouldn't be able to pay Herbert Ingles or Subdued back for disgracing him. However, eventually, his rage subsided into a calm and collected cunning. If anything, this gave him a chance to plan his actions more carefully when he did return to Mercury. With so much time to construct his counterattack, how could he make a miscalculation? How could he make any wrong moves and destroy his chances at glory?

But not even he can predict the future. Such as LCW: Mercury closing their doors before he had his chance.

At the very least, Beaumont was kind enough to tell Jin about the situation. Dave, on the other hand, was very cold in delivery. 'Don't bother showing back up, Jin. There isn't a Mercury, not anymore.' Those words, those wretched words was similar to stabbing a knife through his chest. He didn't bother to make a witty reply, or curse out Dave Beaumont's existence. Simply...he hung up, grabbed a nearby bottle of liquor, and drank as a chilling despair came over him. It just wasn't fair! Jinsei Akujin vehemently refused to believe his chance at revenge would never come to pass. Yet fate spit in his face, denying his deserved opportunity to pay his enemies back.

A more important question came to mind. Where did he go from here? Would he move to a bigger Japanese promotion such as New Japan Pro-Wrestling? Be confine into a home promotion, limit his potential?

Such thoughts made Jin upset. The current state of professional wrestling in Japan compared to the last decades such as the 70's and 90's was..was pitiful. The old guard didn't have confidence in the new generation. The new generation didn't show the talent that the old guard did at their ages. Boxing, Kickboxing, and Mixed Martial Arts made drawing a decent-sized crowd harder. There were so many problems, but so little will to overcome those problems. In the end, he realized no other wrestling federation in the world could compare to Mercury. Tough competition from nearly every roster member made winning a normal match a test of will and survival instincts. Several bouts on ordinary shows were much better than most 'high level matches' from other promotions. In his lifetime, he'd be lucky to see another federation approach half of Mercury's greatness. Such truths made Jin feel as if he had been pushed into a confined room, his ambitious plans forced into abandonment.

In the following two months, he tried...he really tried to make the best of his situation. Work local promotions for little profit, help rookies get over beginning hurdles, organize shows under his own banner. No matter what he did, Jinsei slowly became more and more distressed about pro-wrestling's state. He came to believe if wrestling were to continue on it's current route, his beloved lifestyle would eventually fall into a state of decay and become a forgotten sport in Japan. The puroresu press began to pick up on his overall mood and actions. They went as far as to call him, 'puroresu messiah', for his contributions to revitalize professional wrestling in their country. As flattered as one might be by such a comment, Akujin rather not be called by such a title. In his mind, his so-called contributions shouldn't need to be made.

Unfortunately, his depression and commitments dictated he ignored other portions of his life. Malnutrition had disastrous effects on his body. Jin already needed to eat a lot of food to keep his weight up due to a high metabolism. Now that he didn't do that, he lost weight and muscle mass at an astonishing rate. There were times where he looked pale, almost sickly. Many different people, inside and outside the business, tried to convince him to stop sacrificing his own health to resurrect Japan's glory period of pro-wrestling. However, he ignored their words in favor of focusing on forgetting about Mercury and the past.

And so, he continued to concentrate on achieving a goal that was nearly impossible. Rather than admit his distress over Mercury's premature demise, he buried his head into another challenge and ignored the obvious facts. Even if it meant the challenge was slowly draining his will to live. Even if it meant the challenge was beating him around more than any other wrestler ever could. Even if it meant the challenge proved to be superior in every sense.

This was the fate a desperate Jinsei Akujin took onto himself.

One fateful day as things looked their bleakest. Jinsei's mind delivered a thundering slap to his senses. Why the hell was he doing something that was obviously affecting his personal life? Why should he spend all his time helping when he slunk into a deeper hole? It felt like it was Jinsei Akujin against the entire world with no one helping. That is why he made the difficult choice to take a break from pro-wrestling to think about his future. Though, he managed to do what men such as Geoffrey Slate and countless other wrestlers failed at. Rather than continue to take mental, emotional, and physical punishment...he summoned up enough courage to get out.
